I am an improvisational fiber artist who primarily works in usable arts such as quilting. While quilting is a precise art where perfect points are revered, I work on a more fluid level, letting small scraps of fabric lead me to larger compositions and works. I prefer to work with peoples discarded scraps, or smaller pieces I create from larger classic commissioned quilts. I see piecing as a meditative practice, helping me slow down to feel what my creativity wants to do, where I can go when there is no pressure for things to be “perfect” or even well done. In that space of openness, my art grows through color and space, breathing new life into tiny, forgotten pieces of fabric.
